A Study on the Bio-electrode for Urea utilizing Perteus mirabilis immobilized on a Carbon Doxide Gas-sensor(¥°)

Abstract
A potentiometric sensor for urea has been made by immobilizing the bacterium Proteus mirabilis on a carbon dioxide gas-sensor.
This bio-electrode gives good results and selectivity for urea determination.
The response of the bio-electrode is linear range between 7.O x 10-4 and 5.O x 10-2M urea with a response slope of 48 mV/decade at pH 7.0 and 30¡ÆC in the 0.1 M phosphate buffer solution. This bio-electro was
investigated for the effects of pH, temperature, buffer solutions, bacteria amounts, interferences, inorganic salts, and the lifetime.
Actually this bio-electrode will be useful for the determination of urea.
